Transparency | The Pledge
It is important to us to fill the word "transparency" with meaning and not just talk about it.
Kaffeekommune is now a member of "The Pledge"! For over a year, we have been investing a lot of energy, time, and resources into this project. We had to completely restructure our purchasing process and, unfortunately, also say goodbye to one or two suppliers. From now on, we will back our actions with facts and figures, thus bringing the word transparency to life.
"The Pledge" is a code of standardized principles that all members stand behind. This membership is voluntary. Signatories commit to disclosing important data related to coffee trade. The goal is to quickly show you, as a guest of Kaffeekommune, how transparent the journey of coffee really is from its country of origin to you, with just one click. This allows you to form your own opinion. Kaffeekommune thus adheres to certain principles shared by all members of "The Pledge". We are honest with our guests and consider participation an important step towards fair trade relations and sustainability.
Membership in "The Pledge" requires certain information:
-The producers from whom the green coffee was purchased.
-The FOB price paid for the coffee.
-The SCA scoring used to evaluate the coffee.
-The purchased lot size of the coffee, i.e., the acquired quantity of green coffee.
-The duration of the business relationship between the producers and Kaffeekommune.
-The percentage of transparently imported coffee in relation to the total volume of coffee sold in the current year.

Certainly, this means additional effort for us. However, with our own roasting facility, we bear direct responsibility for the coffee farmers, a responsibility that increases with every kilogram of coffee roasted. You can be sure that every coffee you buy from us has been traded transparently and paid for appropriately. This is the only way coffee cultivation can continue to function in the future.
